Stones, Baby, Stones.

Mom is recovering from a long 1.5 weeks.  Last Monday she had severe back pain/craming/nausea which lead to a trip to the doctor, to a CT scan and to the Urologist. They found kidney stones.  It's rare, but they found one stone on each side. These were large kidney stones, one 7-8MM on the right and 6MM on the left.  Because of the size, the chances she had to pass on her own were not very good.  She had an out-patient surgery (Cystoscopy, Lithotripsy & Stent Placement) last Wednesday to "break up" the 8MM stone which was causing her the most pain.  She feels lucky that Dad was home last week to be by her side through all of the non-sense.  The stent caused severe discomfort but the great news is that it was removed yesterday and we believe she is on the road to recovery!  For now, she and the Urologist will watch stone #2 (6MM) while taking her through blood/urine tests to see if they can find a cause.  We know she's no health nut, but we don't want this to happen again so will take any precautionary measures ordered! Too much information - but, did you know the stent was 12 inches long? Yikes.
